I've been here several times. The food is delicious and flavorful. I don't eat oxtail very much. This is a popular dish here. I like the brown gravy chicken. You order at the register and then go sit somewhere and wait for your order. You will listen to nice reggae or other music while you wait. I find it is just easier to call my order in and then go pick it up. This is basically a "take out" place only. They do have a seating on the other side of the place, but they keep it dark and don't use that part. Prices are pretty fair for the meals you get.

have only ordered from this place via Bite Squad (which by the way is already a great PLUS for me).  This is a fantastic place to order Ox Tail as there aren't that many places in town that will even attempt this dish.

We haven't actually ventured into the restaurant since the delivery via Bite Squad is very quick (within 45 mins at peak hours) and the prices are reasonable enough that you can afford the delivery fee + tip as well.

Our home favorites are obviously the Ox tail, but I also recommend the GOAT.  Goat is very finicky in that, if not cooked right, it can taste very gamey and tough - at this place, however, it's so tender and cured, that I literally mistook it for the jerk chicken - which by the way, the jerk chicken is very easily the best jerk chicken I've had anywhere - INCLUDING Jamaica!!  Ya - really really.

The only reason I didn't give this place a 5 star is simply because we haven't had the privilege/need to venture into the store since Bite Squad delivers efficiently.  We haven't yet experienced the entire dine in experience.

Trash! They don't properly prepare jerk chicken for one (average people don't know the difference but this is baked chicken with spice) secondly, they run out of rice (who does that?). However when their fellow "yardie" comes in they have rice for him and not me? Grade F

My hubby heard  this place had the best caribbean food in JAX. Now that was always going to be a heavy lift so we decided to try some simple dishs.

    THE BUILDING:
The exterior of the restaurant is colorful but it could use a good pressure washing. When you come in the restaurant there are some displays set up that give it a island kind of feel. It looks like it was a Chinese restaurant at some point and they tricked it out. The restroom was decent. There is no his and hers so just know you'll have to take turns.

    THE FOOD:
I went with the standard, jerk chicken, rice and peas, cabbage and a side of plantains. I also got water.
The hubby decided on curry goat, cabbage,  rice and peas and to drink he had a cup of their pineapple lemonade.
Basically we ordered the cornerstones of caribbean food.

I noticed right off that the jerk was wet. I prefer a dry jerk or a wet jerk that grills up dry but no  problem, it still looked great. I got the express so it was a smaller portion. It was basically a leg quarter. The flavor started off well. As I continued to eat, it got hotter and hotter until my tongue was numb and my lips had a tingle. I ate the rice and cabbage to cool it down but it really only dulled the burn a bit. I could no longer taste the flavor of the rest of the food so I ate the plantains. They were plesantly sweet. Iwas able to get bursts of sweetness through the numbness of my taste buds.

Prior to really eating my food I took a bite of the hubby's curry goat. It had a good curry flavor but I thought it was also spicy. After eating more of my food I figured maybe I had tainted the curry. My hubby assured me the curry was also mouth numbingly spicy. He was suprised at how spicy it was. He got the regular serving of curry goat . After sorting out the chunks of goat meat from the rest of the food he felt the serving was very small for the cost of the dish. He didn't think he got his monies worth.

    THE WRAP UP:
If you love SPICY hot foods, this is your spot. I thought I liked spicy food but this food was just too darn spice for me to enjoy. Although, to be fair the name of the restaurant is SPICES Caribbean restaurant, so it's there in the title LOL

I'm giving this one 4 stars because the food is probably great if you like your food spicy hot. My chicken was moist and the cabbage nicely steamed. They even had Akee and saltfish on the menu.
If spicy hot is not your thing, they do have beef patties and the pineapple lemonade was very refreshing.

Some of the best Jamaican food you'll have this side of town. Excellent brown stew chicken, curry chicken too!!
